Game On For Go-Fast Builders Heading To Fort Lauderdale Show

Until a couple of weeks ago when Broward County Florida leadership voted to green-light the 2020 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show scheduled for October 28-November 1, the event was anything but certain. Based on cancellations of most large-group events this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than a few high-performance powerboat builders were betting against the annual water-and-land based exhibit

Nor-Tech’s stylish 460 Flyer will make its boat-show debut at the Fort Lauderdale event.

But barring an unlikely last-minute cancellation, the show will go on—with modifications. The event’s organizers have announced that they will adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, the best news of which is that the mostly outdoor show will have more points of entry this year.

As they have in recent years, several high-performance brands including Fountain, MTI, Nor-Tech, Mystic Powerboats will display at the event. The relatively late confirmation that the 2020 event is on has left several builders undecided on what they’ll showcase at the South Florida happening, but here’s a quick look at what’s on tap so far:

Center consoles such as the 34 SC from Fountain Powerboats will compromise much of performance-oriented fleet during the upcoming South Florida event.

• Fountain will showcase an array of center consoles including a 43NX, a 34SC, 38LS and either a 34TE or 38TE.

•Mystic will display its M3800 and M4200 center consoles.

• Nor-Tech is bringing four models to the show, including its brand-new, convertible hardtop 460 Flyer.

Mystic Powerboats will be elegantly represented at the 2020 Fort Lauderdale event.

• MTI Randy’s Scism confirmed that his company will display at the show, but hasn’t finalized what the Wentzville, Mo., company will send.

“We’re also going to have demo days at Haulover Marine Center and we’re excited about that,” he said. “It should give us the opportunity to show the boats and demo them with clients.

“We’re looking forward to it,” If our clients aren’t comfortable in a large crowd, they can come see us at Haulover for one-on-one experience.”
