Good Boy Vodka Preparing Huge Launch At Lake Of The Ozarks

A few weeks back, speedonthewater.com caught up Alex Pratt, the owner of an impressive 48-foot MTI catamaran powered by a pair of Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines, and teased some news that would be coming from the 25 year old who splits time between his hometown of Clearwater, Fla., and his other residence in Saint Joseph, Mich., where he heads up sales for Pratt Industries, a large custom trailer company, in nearby Bridgman.

Well that news has been made public as of today via a countdown on the website for Pratt’s new venture—Good Boy Vodka. Inspired by the renowned Lake of the Ozarks and the people he’s met at the lake over the past couple of years, Pratt said he decided to launch his own vodka company and he’s going big with brand awareness at the popular Central Missouri waterway in 41 days by hosting a “launch party weekend” during the 32nd annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.

Beginning with the annual Performance Boat Center welcome party on Thursday, August 27, Good Boy Vodka is sponsoring an evening cocktail party at the new High Tide entertainment center that is located adjacent to the Redhead Yacht Club, Redhead Lakeside Grill and Performance Boat Center. The next day, Good Boy Vodka is sponsoring an all-day pool party at the Camden On The Lake Resort in conjunction with the one-and-only Super Cat Fest.

On Saturday, the fun continues with another Good Boy Vodka pool party starting at 11 a.m. at Coconuts Caribbean Beach Bar, and on Sunday, the Good Boy Vodka pool party is scheduled to move over to Tap & Grill Lake Side Brew Haus starting at 11 a.m. as well.

“The parties during the Shootout are going to be out of control—I can’t wait,” Pratt exclaimed. “We have a huge countdown for the launch date on our new website and we can’t wait to see what the boaters at the lake have to say about the vodka, a carbon-filtered five-times distilled vodka that starts from an exceptional water source.”

A big dog lover, Pratt said he was considering several names, including some that were go-fast-boat focused, but settled on Good Boy Vodka and a philanthropic effort that involves donating a portion of the proceeds toward local shelters. He said he hopes to tie in the company’s fundraising efforts at events across the country, too, and give back in as many places as possible.

Of course, he already has his MTI, which he purchased following the Miami International Boat Show in February, done up with Good Boy Vodka branding. The boat is going to be on display at Thursday’s Performance Boat Center party and running around the lake all weekend to each of the parties where free Good Boy Vodka schwag is going to be handed out. He’s also making the 48-footer available for a giveaway ride, a promotional opportunity that he and the marketing team at Coconuts is strategizing about to leverage sales, meaning they can donate more money to charity.

“We hope to come up with more cool experiences like this down the road rather than having someone win a vacation or something else they could get if they care to spend the money on it,” Pratt said. “Anybody can buy a cruise or a car, not everybody can buy a ride in an MTI. That to me, is much more rewarding to the customer and to the business. Ozarks is going to be so much fun. We have 25,000 cups coming and we’ve printed a ton of shirts, coasters and more.”
