Great Lakes Grand Prix Essentials, III: Livestream Broadcast Details

If you’re an offshore racing fan living in Michigan City, Ind., catching the action from this Sunday’s Great Lakes Grand Prix on Lake Michigan, will be a breeze. Just hit the beach. But if you’re elsewhere—and chances are good you will be—you can all the action on the P1 Offshore Facebook page starting tomorrow at noon.

This time around, the livestream broadcast for the race—the fifth of six events in the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series—is being produced by Greenlight International, which works closely with the P1 group covering all of its races. A fan favorite, longtime announcer and former offshore racer Mike Yowaiski will be back in the broadcast booth.

“I’m excited—it’s going to be great to see the racing family again,” he said. “Plus, Michigan City is an awesome race site.”

At press, Yowaiski’s broadcast partner had not been announced.

Here’s a quick look at the provisional—key word—schedule by race and raceboat class:

Race No. 1: Bracket 700, Bracket 600 and Stock V.
Race No. 2: Bracket 500, Bracket 400, Bracket 300 and Mod V.
Race No. 3: Super Stock.
Race No. 4: Class 1, Supercat, Factory Stock 450R, Vee Extreme and Bracket 200.

As noted above, this race/class schedule is provisional and subject to change.

“We also will be filming for the CBS and Bally Sports television program again,” said Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1/P1 Offshore.
