Hurry Up Outerlimits Cat To Make Erie Poker Run Debut

Like more than a few performance-boat owners, especially those with new-for-2020 models, Jason and Laurie Moe of Washington planned to participate in a slew of events this summer. And with their breathtaking Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SC 46 catamaran called Hurry Up, the Moes were particularly motivated to get out on the water and let the big cat, which is powered by dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engine, out of its cage.

Laying waste to the best of 2020 go-fast boating plans, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced—as consistently reported on speedonthewater.com—event cancellations around the country. So last, the fun-loving husband—and-wife duo, who more often than not bring their teenage children Katelin and Colton with them, signed up for the Erie Poker Run, August 21-22, in Ohio. What’s more, they have joined Erie-based David and Nicole Weschler and New York’s Matt and Nicole Shepherd, as well as Western New York Offshore Powerboat Association Tim Joldos as event sponsors.

“Dave and Nicole are very good friends of Laurie’s and mine and they are helping put it on,” said Jason Moe. “All of the other poker runs have been pretty much cancelled, so we decided to go.”

It will be the Moe’s first poker run in the canopied 46-footer. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, they will be the farthest-traveled participants in the six-year history of the event.

At present, 15 boat owners have registered for the run. Anthony Scioli of Erie event producer Elite Pokers LLC expects that number to grow rapidly as the event draws closer.

“With most events being cancelled, many people have told me this is going to be one of the busiest runs of the year,” he said. “I want to encourage people to register now, rather than wait until the last minute, so I can plan accordingly. The run will be limited to 250 guests and at that point registration will be closed.

“I have no plans on cancelling but if anything out of my control happens I want people to know they will get full refunds like everyone who registered for my other runs did,” he added.
