Image Of The Week: Molten DCB Hotness

We’ve reviewed a couple of thousand images during the ongoing production of our 196-page, oversized Speed On The Water 2020 Year In Review print issue, which goes on sale next week, but few caught our eyes like those we received of the second M37R Widebody catamaran from DCB Performance Boats. Contributing photographer Tom Leigh topped himself—not an easy thing to do given his knack for capturing high-performance powerboat running shots on the Colorado River—with his helicopter-supported photo shoot of owner Brad Macaulay’s smoldering-red 37-footer powered by Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines.

Still waiting to take delivery of DCB M37R Widebody catamaran No. 2, Canadian Brad Macaulay will have a beauty on his hands. Photos by Tom Leigh copyright Tommy Gun Images.

The Southern California-based custom go-fast catamaran builder already has north of 10 orders for the M37R cat, which as previously reported is its first model that comes exclusively with a full-tunnel hull. That hull No. 1, mostly dressed in white gelcoat, reached 120 mph with the same propulsion package during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri certainly helped the company’s cause, as did its typically other-worldly DCB build quality.

It’s special boat—and we have a special presentation of it in store for the upcoming collectible issue. But you’ll have to wait for that.

Another look. The rest will have to wait.
