Inside SOTW Mag: Miller Time With Cigarette 41 Nighthawk And Skater 368

When your experience covering the powerboat industry spans several decades combined, writing about things most boaters can only dream about happens more often than we—myself

and Matt Trulio—even realize. But this memorable story, which falls into the “if only” category for pretty much any performance boat enthusiast, is a no-doubter when it comes to dreaming about what it would be like to take delivery of two brand- new, brand-iconic models with the greatest outboard power packages available from Mercury Racing in less than two months on Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks.

The main reason I’ll always remember this one is that I got to be a small part of the story. I was there to see Tyler and Lindsey Miller’s reaction as their Skater Powerboats 368 catamaran— the twin Mercury Racing 450R- powered 36-footer they’d waited more than a year for—was delivered to them at Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., on Friday morning before the fun run part of the Cigarette Owners Rendezvous in mid-June.

And a few hours later on the return leg following lunch at Coconuts Caribbean Beach

Bar and Grill, Tyler Miller, who owns and throttles the M CON Skater Powerboats catamaran in offshore racing’s Supercat class with support from his Kansas- based M CON construction business, asked me if I wanted to drive his family’s new 41 Nighthawk center console from Cigarette Racing Team that they took delivery of in early May. I didn’t hesitate to get behind the wheel of the luxury performance center console powered by quad Mercury Racing 450R engines, and boy was it an incredibly fun-to-drive boat.
