Marino Family Half-Way To A Dream Fleet With New Nor-Tech 390 Sport

Though a good time was had by all during last Saturday’s Nor-Tech 30th Anniversary Fun Run to Useppa Island in Southwest Florida, it’s unlikely that anyone had a better time than Steve and Kellly Marino and their twin daughters Zoey and Samantha. That’s because they took delivery of a beautiful new Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console, which is equipped with triple Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines, just in time to run it in the event.

With their new Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console, the Marinos have their most spacious family boat to date.

Docked at the private island after a relatively short, calm-water 30-minute run on the Intracoastal Waterway from the Westin Cape Coral Resort—the host venue for Nor-Tech’s weekend-long 30th anniversary celebration—Steve Marino said he was purely delighted with his family’s new prize.

“It is absolutely beautiful and I can’t believe how well it rode,” he said. “This was my first time in a 450 boat, and I love it. The torque and the sound are unbelievable. If you have to slow down, you have the horsepower to quickly get going again.”

The Marinos will keep the 39-footer near their home in Auburn, Ala. Their next event will be the upcoming Florida Powerboat Club Powerboat Week/Orange Beach Poker Run in their home-state. As usual, Zoey and Samantha will be along for the ride.

“They go on every poker run with us,” said Kelly Marino.

Saturday’s run to Useppa Island was the first outing for Kelly, Steve, Zoey and Samantha Marino in their new center console.

During the Orange Beach event, however, the Marino girls will have a lot more space to enjoy than they did on family’s previous boat, which was a DCB Performance Boats M35 Widebody catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines. Called Twin Ladies in honor of Zoey and Samantha, the boat was sold not long ago to make room for a new DCB M37R model, as well as the Nor-Tech center console.

Steve Marino, who knows a bit about high-quality build experiences, said he enjoyed the process with Nor-Tech.

“Everything we asked for, from carbon fiber stitching to carbon fiber inlays, they did perfectly, he said. “And they even threw in a surprise for us, the Twin Ladies logo we had made for our daughters. The whole experience was great.

“There’s one more thing that is special about this boat—its gooseneck trailer,” he continued. “Jon Smiley and the MYCO crew built it and it’s absolutely stunning. I had a great time working with them. You name it, Jon and his team made it happen.”
