Miss GEICO Team To Launch ‘Community Drivers’ Program In 2021

This weekend during the annual Fort Lauderdale Air Show in South Florida, retired Navy Chief Janette R. Chandler will join extreme motorsports great Travis Pastrana and offshore racing veteran Brit Lilly as the third driver of the Miss GEICO raceboat this season. Chandler’s selection as the driver for the 47-foot catamaran during Friday’s rehearsal for the team’s demonstration race against the Skytypers Air Show Team celebrates the launch of Miss GEICO’s new Community Drivers program, which will begin in 2021.

The new program is “designed to show support and encouragement for local initiatives promoting programs for active duty and veterans of the military,” according to a press release from the team. During select test dates and appearances at national air shows next year, local community members will be honored for their contributions to programs supporting members of the armed forces.

“These individuals are ‘drivers’ in their communities and will be identified for their contributions to military-related support programs,” the release stated.

The Community Drivers program dovetails with Miss GEICO’s own 501(c)(3) charitable foundation called United We Race.” The foundation was established in 2008 to benefit U.S. Veterans and their families.
