New Fountain 38 Sport Consoles Make Big July 4 Weekend Impression

Powerboat enthusiasts taking to the Lake of the Ozarks last weekend likely noticed a particularly sexy new center console plying the Central Missouri Waterway. Powered by quad Mercury Racing 400R outboard engines, the new Fountain 38 Sport Console has been turning heads ever since Big Thunder Marine took delivery of it last Friday.

The new Fountain 38 Sport Console is a looker—and one that reportedly tops 90 mph on Mercury Racing 400R outboard-engine power. Photos by Mark Spencer copyright Fountain Powerboats.

The 2021 model-year center console is an inventory boat for the Lake Ozark, Mo., Fountain, Donzi and Baja dealer. The dealership’s first customer-sold 38 footer should be finished in a couple of week for Bob and Angie Rickard of St. Louis, who have second home at the lake. The 38 SC will complement their Sea Ray 48 Dancer cruiser, which they also keep at the lake.

Big Thunder ordered its inventory SC 38, which currently is for sale with plenty of interest already, before the Rickards ordered one of their own. The boat reportedly tops out at 90-plus mph. Features include Fountain’s quad sport seating package, LED lighting and Shadow Caster control, Seadek flooring dual Garmin GPS units, a JL Audio sound system, a SureShade power Bimini top, a bow thruster and more. A MYCO trailer also is available for the boat.

“The quad bolsters are really amazing, and with the adjustable armrests you can do a lot with them,” said Jeremy Anderson, the general manager of Big Thunder Marine. “With us being Big Thunder Marine, this is the boat we’ve been asking for from Fountain. This is one of the directions Fountain has taken and it’s good. The way it all flows together with the graphic is really neat.

“Everywhere we went with the 38 SC last weekend, it was a head-turner,” he added.

Some 500-plus miles east on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky, another Fountain 38 SC also was making a splash last weekend. That boat, which was inventoried as inventory model by Bill Day of Day’s Boat Sales in Frankfort, is powered by triple Mercury Marine Verado 400 outboards.

Day had the boat on the water less than two days before it sold.

“Fountain delivered it to lake, where we have a houseboat, the following day and we took it on the water,” he said. “A fella came down and brought his wife to see it and she really loved it. They came in today to shore up the deal and they are picking it up tomorrow. This is my first experience with a Fountain center console and I have to say I’m a huge fan. It’s such a Cadillac.

Bill Day didn’t have to wait long to find buyer interest in the Fountain 38 SC he ordered as an inventory boat.

“And the crazy thing is?” he continued. “I have a 34 SC pretty much sold already to a guy who is flying in, and another guy—one of our previous Baja customers—is coming in tomorrow to pick colors for a new 38.”

Big Thunder Marine, which has also have a customer-sold Fountain 34 SC coming soon to the Lake of the Ozarks, plans to showcase the stylish center console at is upcoming Baja, Fountain and Donzi rally—dubbed the BFD Fun Run—on July 24.

Said Anderson, “Hopefully, it’s sold by then and the new owner will bring it to BFD. We already have a lot of interest in it.”

Viewed from any angle, the 38 SC is a looker.
