New M CON Raceboat A Product Of Skater Team ‘Craftsmanship And Passion’

Including their new 38-foot, Super Cat-class raceboat, Tyler and Lindsey Miller have owned six catamarans from Skater Powerboats in Douglas, Mich. Their new 388 M CON cat is yet another piece of Skater artwork, and if you watch carefully you’ll catch it being sanded in the recent Speed On The Water “In The Lead with Peter Hledin” video.

Now it’s in the early stages of rigging at Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., under the watchful eyes of the multi-brand dealership’s Myrick Coil, who drives the M CON cat with Miller on the throttles, and team crew chief Jake Leckliter.

It took a village to build the Miller’s new Skater 388 raceboat. The rigging timeline is tight. The boat, which arrived at Performance Boat Center as a mostly bare hull, needs to be ready for the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series season-opener May 19-22 in Cocoa Beach, Fla.

But what’s mostly on the Millers’ minds right now is gratitude and appreciation for the entire team at Skater Powerboats.

“Lindsey and I traveled to Skater on March 30 to take delivery of our new Skater 388 raceboat and were absolutely blown away—yet again—by the craftsmanship and passion for perfection that is instilled into every boat Skater builds, especially the new 388 raceboat the M CON Offshore Racing team will campaign in 2022,” Tyler Miller said. “The hard work and dedication that everyone at Skater puts into their craft does not go unnoticed by the entire boating and race community.

“Here’s to all of those who in some way shape or form had a hand, blood, sweat or tears into making another masterpiece become reality,” he added. “So many times, the true craftsmen/craftswomen behind the scenes do not get the full credit they are due.”

The boat’s Sterling Performance engines arrived at Performance Boat Center last week, and installation is underway. Electrical work is slated to begin this week and the cockpit build-out will start shortly.

“It takes a small army to get it all done,” Miller said.
