Nor-Tech Making Charity An Art Form With Online Auction

As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats has launched charitable fundraising initiatives throughout the year. And the Fort Myers, Fla.-based high-performance center console, catamaran and V-bottom sportboat builder isn’t done yet as it is promoting an online auction with two pieces of generously donated fine art starting Friday, October 8 and closing on closing on Friday, October 29.

“Giving back to the community is near and dear to our hearts,” said Trond Schou, who founded Nor-Tech 30 years ago with fellow Norwegian Nils Johnsen. “We feel that it is part of a duty to help when we can, especially when it comes to our younger generation.

Dubbed Bass Rocks, Gloucester and painted by James Fairman of the Hudson River Valley School of artists, one of the pieces on the virtual block is a valued at $35,000. The other is a Rembrandt etching titled The Descent From The Cross: Second Plate and it is valued at $23,500. Proceeds from the auction will be split evenly between the Tommy Bohanon Foundation, which “is dedicated to young athletes in supporting them on and off the field,” and the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida, which “creates, finds, and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, and Lee counties.”

Throughout 2020, Nor-Tech’s management team members and employees dedicated themselves to producing, acquiring and donating personal protection equipment for frontline pandemic workers, as well launching food drives to help fill local food pantries. More recently, during its 30th anniversary gala celebration in Cape Coral, Fla., in April, the company raised $80,000 for the Tommy Bohanon Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida, Guide Dogs and Blessing In A Backpack.

Would-be fine art owners/charitable benefactors can bid by clicking here when the auction opens at the end of the week.

Said Schou, “Having the opportunity to participate and assist the wonderful charities locally here in Southwest Florida is something that every employee here at Nor-Tech thoroughly enjoys.”
