Nor-Tech Signs On As Presenting Co-Sponsor For FPC Miami Boat Show Poker Run

Wasting no time in what will be its yearlong 30th anniversary celebration, Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats will be the presenting co-sponsor for the Florida Powerboat Club Miami Boat Show Poker Run, which is pulling double duty this year as a traditional FPC event and a go-fast powerboat-exclusive exhibition, February 18-21 in Key Largo. Nor-Tech, which is based in Fort Myers, Fla., is sharing the presenting sponsor spotlight with Mercury Racing.

The event comes on the heels of the Fort Myers Offshore Nor-Tech 30th Anniversary Fun Run from Sanibel Island to Marco Island earlier this month.

“This is a big year for us” said Trond Schou, who co-founded Nor-Tech with fellow Norwegian Nils Johnsen in 1991. “We kicked it off with our Fort Myers Offshore event and now we’re working with Stu Jones at the Florida Powerboat Club again. We have a 25-plus-year history with the club and want to continue to be its go-to manufacturer when Stu calls.

“W really want to make it a banner year,” he added.

According to Henrik Margård, Nor-Tech’s vice-president of production, the company will have six boats on display—two in the water with one as a demo boat and five on dry land—at Gilbert’s Resort, the host venue for the Florida Powerboat Club showcase. Margård said he is hoping to have the company’s new 460 Flyer and new 50-foot center console, soon to be painted by Stephen Miles Design, in its product line-up.

This month’s Fort Myers Offshore happening and next month’s Florida Powerboat Club Miami Boat Show Poker Run are just the of Nor-Tech’s robust 30th anniversary schedule of brand-specific events.

“In late April we have our annual dealer meeting at the Westin Cape Coral Resort,” said Margård. “On Friday night, April 30, have rented out the whole Westin Convention Center for a big celebration and we have a few tricks up our sleeve for that. We’re going to follow it up with an invitational fun run on Saturday.

“For later this season, we’re working with Michael Knoblock of American Custom Marine in Michigan to help us increase our footprint at the Boyne Thunder Poker Run,” he continued. “We also working with Marvin Dufner of Midwest Boating Center to increase our footprint for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. It’s going to be a big year for us.”
