Nor-Tech Unveils 460 Flyer

Make no mistake: Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Powerboats’ core business is building performance-oriented center consoles. The Fort Myers, Fla., company has spent the better part of 10 years establishing a commanding presence in go-fast center consoles for 34 to 56 feet long. Company founders Trond Schou and designer Nils Johnsen harbor no illusions about what pays the bills.

At once modern and classic, the 460 Flyer is the latest creation from Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats.

But both Schou and Nils are rooted in the pure high-performance powerboat world, and now and then they like to flex those muscles. Last year, for example, Nor-Tech built a stunning 477 V-bottom for Ron Meyering of Michigan.

This year, Nor-Tech expanded on one of the most elegant and stylistic offerings—the 360 Flyer—ever to leave Johnsen’s design studio. The result is the breathtaking 460 Flyer powered by quad Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines, which the company released today.

The 460 Flyer will make its official public debut at the inaugural Roar Offshore Fun Run, October 9-10 in Southwest Florida. (Nor-Tech is the event’s title sponsor.) In the meantime, Nor-Tech will soon release more images, as well as feature, performance and pricing information, for the outboard engine-powered  46-footer.

“We do not expect to build a lot of 460 Flyers,” said Henrik Margård, Nor-Tech’s vice president of production. “Our main business is still very much performance center consoles. But we do like to remind people of what we can do, and where we came from.”
