Saris And Saris Taking The Reins At Performance Marine

The home of Saris Racing Engines—a well-known and respected engine-building and full-service marine shop in Bolton Landing, N.Y—Performance Marine was founded by Jason Saris and Richard Gage in 1987. They spent the next 34 years building their fine reputation in the go-fast boating world. In 2009, Johnny Saris joined his father in Offshore Powerboat Association competition and the well-liked duo established an impressive offshore racing resume that includes world championships, kilometer speed records and more.

Along the way, they built a roster of clients around the country while Mercury Marine’s earning highest honors for many years. They also enjoyed—and continue to enjoy—a longtime relationship with Whipple Industries as one of the Fresno, Calif, company’s first three supercharger dealers in the high-performance marine world.

Gage has decided to retire after his long and successful career and Johnny Saris has joined the business full time as a partner with his father. Where before the younger Saris was a part-time mechanic, now he is a company co-owner—and the company named has changed.

“We are excited to enter this next chapter as Team Saris Performance Marine,” he said. “We will still be a premier-level Mercury Marine and Mercury Racing dealer. We will still be building Saris Racing engines and still take care of the everyday lake boater.

“We would like to congratulate Richard on his retirement and wish him all the best,” he continued. “Here’s to 2021.”
