Shootout On The Strip Fundraiser Nets $2,200 For Ozarks Kat And K9 Shelter

Thanks to a generous group of people who donated money while chatting or taking pictures with the lovely Speed On The Water ladies at the Waves and Wheels-sponsored Shootout on the Strip gathering during the 32nd annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri at the end of August, $1,000 was raised for the nonprofit Ozarks Kat and K9 Shelter in Sunrise Beach, Mo. Check out the video of the ladies in action on the speedonthewater.com YouTube channel.

With the adorable Charley (below with her mother, Jeanette Russell) leading the way, the exceptional Speed On The Water ladies stole the show at the Shootout on the Strip during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and raised $1,000 for Ozarks Kat and K9 Shelter.

And thanks to another couple of very generous donors—Mike Otten and Jeremy Hall, the co-owners of Alley Cat’s Pizzeria and Pub in Lake Ozark—the donation was doubled as Otten and Hall matched the original donation when Christy Wright, a longtime Speedonthewater.com supporter and an insurance agent for WIA Marine Insurance, presented the shelter with a check on Tuesday.

“Originally we raised $716 at the street party,” Wright said. “Then, the day after that event, an anonymous donor added another $100 to the funds. Then a generous lady named Cheryl Sanders decided to give the difference to make the amount raised an even $1,000. Then Mike and Jeremy of Alley Cat’s announced that they were going to match the entire donation for a grand total of $2000 raised for the shelter animals.”

The donations didn’t stop there as myself and Matt Trulio decided to kick in an additional $200 to the donation total on top of the $1,000 speedonthewater.com donated to the Shootout charities during the auction at Camden on the Lake Resort during Super Cat Fest.

“We are overwhelmed with the generosity of everyone involved in making this donation possible,” said shelter manager Angi Uber, who gave Wright and Otten a short tour of the facilities during their visit to the shelter yesterday. “Our animals thank you!”
