Slideshow Of The Week: Picture Perfect In Bristol

Canadian Bob Barnhart—and we’ve known him for the better part of two decades—is one of high-performance powerboating community’s finest gentlemen. He’s unfailingly kind and gracious, and he loves the go-fast boating world as much as anyone.

Now, we can safely add “patient” to his long list of admirable qualities. Barnhart, who has a home outside of Toronto as well as a second place in Southwest Florida, waited for more than a year for his new Mercury Racing 565 engine-powered Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SV 29 sportboat. Supply chain issues, particularly when it came to the boat’s windshield, created the kind of delays all go-fast powerboat builders are experiencing and likely will continue in the immediate future.

Coming to Canada this summer, Bob Barnhart’s SV 29 is a beauty.

The 29-footer debuted publicly alongside Vinnie Diorio’s new SC 37 catamaran last month in the Bristol, R.I., boat builder’s display at the Miami International Boat Show. And that was where the ever-patient Barnhart met his new beauty for the first time.

“It could come to Canada any time, but Dan Kleitz of Outerlimits has offered to store it there until I’m ready,” he said. “I could go down to Rhode Island to run it for a day or so in April before bringing it north.

“I did get to sit in it at the Miami Show,” he added, then laughed. “I’m looking forward to my first ride.”
