Sneak Peek: Rayzor’s Relentless Skater Color Scheme

In 2018, Northern California’s Dale Rayzor teamed up with painter Chris Mills, his longtime friend and collaborator, of Boat Customs in Caledonia, Mich., to create one of the most extraordinary paintjobs of the year for Rayzor’s  beloved Skater Powerboats 30 Prototype catamaran. Extensively modified at the Skater facility in Douglas, Mich., and repowered with Mercury Racing 400R outboard engines, the reimagined catamaran debuted that year at Super Cat Fest in Lake Ozark, Mo., and—arguably of course—stole the show.

Slated to be ready in time for the 2021 season, Dale Rayzor’s Skater 36 catamaran is shaping up to be a beauty. Rendering courtesy/copyright Chris Mills/Boat Customs.

Now, with the unique 2005-built catamaran gone to a new home in Texas, Rayzor and Mills are at it again with his 2009 Skater 36 catamaran called Relentless, which he acquired in trade for his 30-footer. Since late 2020, they’ve been working on a graphics package for the Mercury Racing 700 SCi engines-powered cat.

And with the design’s combination of blue and silver it looks as if they might have another show-stealer on their hands.

“ I needed to get back to lighter colors,” said Rayzor. “The medium gray on the 30 Prototype was too hot to walk on in the summer. Blues are actually my favorite colors, yet I hadn’t done a blue-and-silver paint. In addition to liking those colors, I chose bright sky-blue and silvers because I’ve never seen a Skater with those colors before.

“I wanted the colors to be timeless and soft—not the high-contrast colors so commonly seen lately,” he added. “I think these colors will be classy and timeless.”

Speedonthewater.com will continue to report on this project as it progresses.
