Suncoast Summer Fest Fun Run Lights The Fuse On Registration Deal

Though VIP packages are still available, the organizers of the Suncoast Summer Fest Fun Run, set for Saturday, July 3, in Sarasota, Fla., are offering special general-participation pricing until June 24—unless the event sells out sooner. Dubbed the “Firecracker Flash Deal” in honor of the Independence Day holiday weekend, the $75 captain’s registration package includes a poker hand and dinner at the post-run awards celebration.

The deal also includes special pricing for passengers at $35 per person. One poker hand and dinner also are included. Would-be participants can register by clicking here.

The second-year fun run is the finale of more than week of Suncoast Summer Fest events for powerboat fans including a “Meet The Racers” happening on June 25 and the traditional “Boats On The Block” celebration in downtown Sarasota later that evening. The Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix is set for Sunday, June 27, and starting at 9:30 a.m. fans can catch all the action from Lido Beach.

Other events of the week include a motorcycle poker run on Saturday, June 26, a casual fishing tournament on Tuesday, June 29, a barbecue cook-off competition on Thursday, July 1 and more.

Proceeds from all of the events will go to Suncoast Charities for Children.

Lucy Nicandri, the organization’s executive director, explained that without having to focus on the powerboat races, which will be produced by Powerboat P1 and Visit Sarasota this year, the organizers have been able to focus on adding fundraising activities with a broader appeal simpler execution. But all of the elements that made the former Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival a hit in the city for the better part of four decades remain.

“Suncoast Summer Fest provided the charity the ability to grow our fundraising events, expand our community partnerships, and continue to hold an iconic boat race event that the community looks forward to every year,” she said.
