Super Cat Owners Group Sets Internal Championship Schedule For 2022

Though there are eight races in the 2022 American Power Boat Association Offshore National Series, which determines APBA High Points Championships across the spectrum of categories from Class 1 to Stock and Mod V, the Super Cat owners group has chosen seven races for its own internal national championship series. The teams will use a drop-race format, meaning they will be scored on their best six results.

The seven races chosen by the Super Cat owners group are:

• May 19-22—Cocoa Beach, Fla.
• June 4—Lake of the Ozarks., Mo.
• July 2-3—Sarasota, Fla.
• August 6-7-— Michigan City, Ind.
• September 3-4—St. Petersburg, Fla.
• September 30-October 2—Clearwater, Fla.
• October 8—Fort Myers Beach, Fla.

Worth noting is that the Super Cat owners internal series does not affect the APBA Offshore National Championship Series—APBA National Champions in all spec classes will be crowned based on the sanctioning body’s eight-race series, which ends in October.

Like that all of the other spec classes, the 2022 Super Cat-class world title will be decided during the three-race, Race World Offshore-produced American Power Boat Association/Union International Motonautique World Championships November 6-13 in Key West, Fla.
