Team Allen Selects New Driver For 2021 Super Stock Season

Based in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Team Allen Lawncare and Landscaping will tackle the 2021 Super Stock-class offshore racing season, which begins May 20-23 in Cocoa Beach, Fla., with driver Cody McDowell sharing the cockpit with team owner and throttleman Bill Allen. Allen and company announced the news during the opening celebration for sponsors and other guests at the team’s new shop.

An offshore racing rookie, 32-year-old McDowell owns two earth-moving businesses, Central Iowa Dirt Works and Central Texas Dirt Works. The avid high-performance pleasure-boat enthusiast also owns a Wright Performance 360 catamaran and a Sunsation 32 CCX center console, both of which are powered by Mercury Racing 400R outboard engines.

McDowell and Allen have been practicing in the team’s 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran on the Lake of the Ozarks, their home-water, in Central Missouri.

“We’ve had some good testing sessions at the lake this spring,” said McDowell. “Now we are looking forward to getting in with the competition at Cocoa Beach in May. And then it’s back to our port-of-call, the Lake of the Ozarks in early June for Lake Race.”

Team Allen Lawncare and Landscaping celebrated its new driver and sponsors at its recently completed shop.

Team Allen Lawncare and Landscaping enters its fifth full year of Super Stock competition this season. In 2017, the team earned Super Boat International world, national and Florida championships. Two years later, the team finished fourth-place overall in its class during the inaugural six-race American Power Boat Offshore Championship Series, which saw some of the largest and more competitive Super Stock-class fleets in the history of the sport.
