Trophy Truck Champion’s Second DCB M37R Catamaran Presents A First For Stephen Miles Design

A six-time off-road racing champion, Bryce Menzies bought his first DCB Performance Boats M37R Widebody catamaran powered by Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines less than two years ago. Now the famed Trophy Truck racer, who lives in Las Vegas, has ordered another 37-footer. That provides a new opportunity for painter Stephen Miles of Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., who designed graphics for Ken and Renee Lalonde’s M37R but didn’t apply them—the custom catamaran builder handled them in gelcoat at its El Cajon, Calif., facility.

Now Miles will have the chance to handle the entire process.

In about four months, the cat will be hauled to Kentucky so Miles and company can work their airbrush magic on it. It will be completed and delivered to Menzies 10 to 12 weeks later, according to DCB president Jeff Johnston.

Though the final design for the cat’s paintjob is not complete, Miles said he is “close to finished” and supplied a preliminary rendering (above).

“The opportunity to work with DCB and Bryce ‘Freaking-Bad-Ass’ Menzies is, as Tony Chiaramonte at DCB would say, ‘freaking rad dude,’” Miles said with a laugh. “Plus, Jeff and Tony are some of the coolest gentlemen I’ve met in this industry.”

Menzies’ first 37-footer likely will go to a new owner during the DCB Owners Regatta, which is scheduled for October 6-7 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

“Bryce enjoyed the build process so much that he wanted to do it again,” Johnston said.
