Wagner Eager To Run Predator Skater In Fifth Annual Waves And Wheels Fun Run

Coming up next week—Saturday, Sept. 18, to be exact—the fifth annual Waves and Wheels End Of Summer Fun Run on Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks is going to feature a pretty lengthy list of performance boats, many of which have been updated in some way or another by the Osage Beach, Mo.-based company that is hosting the event and specializes in custom audio, fabrication and interior work on a variety of different boats.

On top of Waves and Wheels owner Justin Wagner’s hopefulness that the jaw-dropping project his team wrapped up recently with the team at Maryland Offshore Performance Marine Center—the Scalp Hunter Apache Powerboats 41-foot V-bottom for repeat client Todd Crossley—is going to be tested and dialed in next week in time to be part of the run when everyone gathers at 10 a.m. at The Boardwalk at Waves and Wheels near mile marker 26, he was excited to tell speedonthewater.com about a couple of other boats that he confirmed are participating in the event.

One of the boats is an upcoming project, Texas performance boater Heath Kirkwood’s 2017 Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SV 43 canopied raceboat that competed in the Superboat Extreme class at the 2016 Key West Offshore World Championships. Kirkwood is going to do the run and leave the boat there for the team at Waves and Wheels to give it a more pleasure boat look and feel on the inside.

The other boat is a new one Wagner picked up for himself, mainly so he could have a boat to use in the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run in mid-November. He plans to do next weekend’s fun run in Predator, the Skater Powerboats 40SS catamaran that he recently purchased from one of his longtime clients, Doug Stevenson, who purchased the boat several years ago from its original owner, Arizona performance boater Gary Smith. Wagner said he inquired about the boat, which has received audio, dash and upholstery upgrades in the past from Waves and Wheels, because his team has been so focused on customer projects that they haven’t been able to spend as much time as anticipated working on his Noizy Boy 46-foot Skater overhaul. And because he knew firsthand how well Stevenson takes care of his boats and that he should not have any problems selling the high-performance machine when the time comes to hit the water in Noizy Boy.

Of course there are many other boats Wagner is looking forward to seeing on the water en route to the lunch stop at Neon Taco. Wagner said the plan is to leave The Boardwalk at 11 a.m. and run the 25 miles to Bagnell Dam with a helicopter above shooting video and photos of the participants as they make their way to one of the lake’s newest hot spots, Neon Taco.

Around 1:30 p.m., everyone is scheduled to head to Coconuts Caribbean Beach Bar and Grill for a pool party and awards presentation. And, as anyone who has attended one of the past fun runs knows, Wagner and company go big for the awards with raffle prizes for pretty much every boat. Food, drinks and entertainment also are going to be provided.
