Waves And Wheels Team Delighted With Fun Run Turnout

It appears that several of the decisions Justin Wagner and the crew at Waves and Wheels in Osage Beach, Mo., made to improve its annual End of Summer Waves and Wheels Fun Run worked out as well as or better than expected. Starting with moving the date of the fourth annual event a few weeks earlier than normal and making the run longer and more straightforward by starting and finishing at Camden on the Lake Resort with a stop for lunch at Big Dick’s Halfway Inn and a quick pass by The Boardwalk at Waves and Wheels, the modifications worked out positively.

Several members of the dedicated team at Waves and Wheels, including shop manager Noah Estes, sales and marketing director Kelly Smith, and property manager Andy Wells, went out of their way to take care of past, current and possible future customers on Saturday, which began with breakfast at Camden on the Lake and wrapped up with a pool party at the same location.

“Overall, I thought the event went really well,” said Wagner, who did the run with Michigan clients Scott and Laurie Kowalski in their brand new 37-foot catamaran that was built by Pilini Marine, painted by Visual Imagination, sold by Randy Kent of Marine Concepts Motorsports, rigged by Gene Greber of Paragon Offshore and finished off with an interior from Waves and Wheels. “We had about 30 boats preregister for the fun run, but a few of them didn’t make it out for a variety of reasons. The mix of boats was impressive this year. We had some MTI models—Brian Metcalf of California ran his 40-footer dubbed Native Sun, Adam Ramirez drove his 48-footer and Greg Harris and Yvonne Aleman from Florida brought their 340X named Mad Props—and a few other catamarans from Skater Powerboats and Spectre Powerboats. We also had a bunch of V-bottoms represented, including Active Thunder, Baja, Cigarette, Fountain, Outerlimits, Scarab and Sunsation models.

“I think everyone had a good time in the run and at the party at Camden on the Lake Resort afterward,” he continued. “We got a bunch of compliments, which was nice, and several people told me that they liked that it was a relaxing stress-free run. It helped that we did it a little earlier this year (the last three events took place in October), plus the entire group of participants was great.”

Wagner said Waves and Wheels gave away several prizes, including a $2,000 credit toward Bluave Marine Audio products.

“The timing was great for us to be able to participate in today’s fun run with the new boat,” said Scott Kowalski of Port Huron, Mich. “We are so happy with the boat. It’s our first cat—we used to have an Outerlimits 42 Legacy with Mercury Racing 1075 engines—and the thing is incredible. Randy (Kent) was a pleasure to deal with and we’re going to keep the boat at the lake for a few weeks so he can do some more testing before we take it south to Florida to do some runs down there over the winter.

“It was nice to have Justin and his wife, Cicely, come with us since we had no idea where we were going,” he continued with a laugh. “Justin has a lot of cat experience so he was giving me pointers the whole time. Overall it was a very fun day. The after party was a blast and we met a lot of cool people. I’m glad we decided to do it.”

It’s safe to say Wagner and company are already looking forward to the fifth annual End of Summer Waves and Wheels Fun Run, which is going to remain a mid-September event.
