Waves And Wheels Going Big For Fourth Annual Fun Run In September

Building on the momentum of the company’s first few fun runs as well as the fact that the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri is one of the few places where gatherings of like-minded boaters is taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at Waves and Wheels in Osage Beach, Mo., decided to move its annual Fun Run up a few weeks into mid-September, make the run longer than usual and host a pool party to conclude the day.

Taking place Saturday, Sept. 19, this year’s End of Summer Waves and Wheels Fun Run is going to start and finish at Camden on the Lake Resort in Lake Ozark with a lunch stop at Big Dick’s Halfway Inn. And, according to Waves and Wheels’ owner Justin Wagner, participants are going to make a “drive-by” stop at The Boardwalk at Waves and Wheels either before or after lunch to pick up a raffle ticket for prizes that will be given away during the post-run pool party at Camden on the Lake, which is going to include a DJ, food and drinks, plus a prize for every participant.

“We’re going bigger with the run this year and we have a feeling we’re going to have more boats than ever before,” said Wagner, who decided not to host the lunch at The Boardwalk at Waves and Wheels—the company’s marina located at mile marker 26—because the showroom is not quite finished with some updates being done to it after it caught fire in early June. “We’ve got a helicopter lined up through Tom Cline Helicopter and photographer Pete Boden coming to shoot the run for us. I think ending with a pool party is going to be a blast, too. We’re working on collecting prizes and awards so that everyone who joins the run will win something.

“As usual, participants can count on some awesome music at the pool party, which starts at 2 p.m.,” he added. “We’ll have drink coupons for everyone and other activities and surprises in store that are in the works. Between moving the run into September, which should increase the chances for better weather, having a pool party at Camden and teaming up with a variety of sponsors, this year’s event should be the best one yet. We’re expecting some serious hardware based on customers and other people who have expressed interest already.”
