Boyne Thunder Moment: Fountain Alums Cross Paths

What do Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Powerboats dealer manager Geoff Tomlinson and Skater Powerboats national sales manager Tony Cutsuries have in common beyond their involvement with premium high-performance powerboat brands? In the late 2000s, they worked together at Fountain Powerboats.

To say that all roads in the go-fast marine world pass through Fountain would be a stretch at best. But to say that many well-known marine industry figures, from Brian Forehand to Ben Robertson, Jr., worked for the North Carolina company at one point in their careers is accurate.

Cutsuries and Tomlinson, who have kept in touch since their Fountain days, bumped into each other yesterday during the Boyne Thunder Poker Run Street Party, one of several happenings in advance of today’s main event. But while Cutsuries has been to the Boyne City, Mich., event more times than he can remember, this weekend’s happening is Tomlinson’s first.

But it won’t be his last.

“This is rapidly becoming my favorite event,” said Tomlinson, who’ll be hosted today, along with Nor-Tech chief operating officer Henrik Margård, by Michigan’s Bill and Lori Lemanske on their Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console. “The scenery is breathtaking and the water is so clear. The people and the town are so involved. It’s such a cool event—nothing like staying at a ski lodge and doing a poker run in the same day.

“I had no idea what to expect,” he added.

All of which was made that much better by bumping into a longtime friend and colleague last night.

“Tony and I have stayed in touch since our Fountain days—he’s one of the few,” Tomlinson said. “It’s always great to see him.”
