Broader Mix of Marine Technology Cats in Production

Earlier this year, Marine Technology, Inc.’s 48-foot catamaran was the company’s hottest ticket. But right now, there is an “across the board” mix of models within the eight cats currently in production at the Wentzville, Mo., facility, according to MTI founder and owner Randy Scism.

“It’s across the board in terms of the models we’re building right now,” said Scism. “We have a couple of 40s, a couple of 42s, a 44 and a few 48s. It’s a nice mix right now.”

The majority of MTI models are being ordered with twin Mercury Racing 1350 or 1100 quad-overhead-cam turbocharged engines. Scism said a couple of the models have been ordered with “bigger power” from other engine builders.

“We’re staying busy,” said Scism. “In addition to the eight boats we have in process, we have two more in negotiations. That’s kind of what we shoot for, to have ten boats going at a time in one stage or another.”
