The boats will depart Rankin Marina on Saturday morning for the 35-mile trek on the Chattanooga River to Rankin Cove. The run will be followed by an outdoor celebration that evening.

The event organizers are adhering to Tennessee COVID-19 guidelines.

“Per state guidelines, we will be providing face masks and hand sanitizer,” said Justin Lucas, who is organizing the event with longtime go-fast boating friends Gerald Brown, Chad Collier and Mark Godsey. “They are allowing indoor dining but we will be utilizing the outside deck area for our group celebration.

“We’re hoping to get another 10 to 20 boats in the next few days,” he added.
