Fort Myers Offshore Distributing $50,000 In Scholarship Funds From 2018/2019 Season

Fort Myers Offshore, a nonprofit powerboat club that raises college scholarship money for deserving students, organized eight events during its 2018/2019 season. But beyond the good times shared by longtime and new club member, the organization raised $50,000 in scholarship funding and has begun the distribution process.

“We are very grateful to have such a generous group of members that allows us to help several students further their education,” said outgoing FMO president Eric Belisle.

Since its official founding in 2008, Fort Myers Offshore has raised $380,000 in scholarship monies.

“In addition to helping students start toward their college degrees we are also assisting some local high school graduates with tuition to cover firefighter school,” said Belisle.

A longtime FMO member, Tim Hill will be the club’s president for the 2019/2020 season. Hill also is one of the key producers for the Fort Myers Beach Roar Offshore event—the final contest of the six-race American Power Boat Association Offshore Championship Series—set for Oct. 10-12.
