Image of the Week: MTI Flexes Its Eight Pack

In typical MTI fashion, the Wentzville, Mo., high-performance boat manufacturer rolled out the red carpet treatment with several gatherings for its owners during last week’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri. It also delivered a few boats as it normally does in the super-popular event that takes place on the company’s “home lake,” including a new 390X to Shawn and Lyndee Moe and a new 52-foot cat to Mark and Jennifer Schouten, both of which are repeat buyers from Nevada and Arizona, respectively.

On Friday, a group of MTIs gathered for a morning photo shoot with Arizona-based photographer Tom Leigh, who traveled to the lake for the third time to cover the weeklong happening, and the image above was easily one of his favorite pictures from the week.

“I’ve done a bunch multiple-boat shots like that before, and I can tell you that none of them have gone as well as this one did,” Leigh said, the laughed. “It was a big group of boats and they all managed to run together like that for quite a while down the lake. It was pretty cool to watch from the helicopter.”

With Derek Wacob’s Team Black Diamond fleet setting the pace way in the foreground—and pacing with the Team Black Diamond helicopter Leigh was shooting from—the other MTI owners followed suit in formation.

According to MTI’s Taylor Scism, the boats included in the fleet (from front to back) with the three stealth-like Team Black Diamond cats was a 340X owned by Jason Curry, the Moe family’s 390X, Calculated Risk—a 43-footer owned by Eric and Nicole Anderson—MTI’s 390X demo boat driven by Taylor Scism and throttled by her father and MTI founder, Randy Scism, and a 340X owned by Tyler Stone his fiancé, Vanessa.

Judging by the quality and composition of this image, this likely won’t be the last time Leigh and MTI team up for a photo shoot like this one.
