Lake Powell Challenge Announces Cancelation

In an email announcement today, the organizers of the Lake Powell Challenge expressed their disappointment in having to cancel this year’s run, which benefits the Lake Powell Challenge Charities Foundation.

“Due to the circumstances presented at this time, Antelope Point Marina is devastated to announce the cancelation of Lake Powell Challenge 2020,” the letter explained. “For the first time in 12 years, this event will not take place. We could not be more thankful for your support. This decision was a difficult one to make and we are working through the ramifications of this situation. With the health and safety of our community, sponsors and participants in mind, Antelope Point Marina remains closed. Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation.”

The announcement said that participants or sponsors that have paid to be a part of the event and have not already made refund or transfer arrangements can contact Antelope Point Marina special events coordinator Amber McDaniel via email (amcdaniel@apmlp.com) or her direct extension at (928) 645-5900 ext. 5064. She also can answer any additional questions.

McDaniel and her associate, Cory A. Moyes, the special projects manager for the marina, said that the 12th annual Lake Powell Challenge will resume September 16-19, 2021, and that they look forward to seeing everyone again.

“Antelope Point Marina appreciates your understanding of this difficult situation and continued support of this important event for charity,” the letter concluded.
