Lake Powell Challenge Approaching Sell Out

In conjunction with several marina customers and longtime supporters of the event, Antelope Point Marina in Page, Ariz., is focused on making the 2019 Lake Powell Challenge, which takes place Sept. 12-14, worthy of its new tagline, “The greatest boating event at the greatest venue.” And based on the registration and sponsor support already, the 11th annual appears to be on the right track.

With a newly formed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—the Lake Powell Challenge Charities Foundation—in place to go with its new tagline, the event on the majestic lake that borders Arizona and Utah is going to raise money for JDRF as well as other children’s charities this year.

According to organizers, Positive Beverage is on board as this year’s title sponsor and various other boat companies, such as DCB Performance Boats and MTI, and dealerships and service centers, such as Barrett Custom Marine and Teague Custom Marine, are committed to attend and support the event again.

According to longtime supporter George Argyros, who owns a gorgeous 48-foot MTI catamaran and is expecting to have his new MTI-V 42 center console at the Lake Powell Challenge, the event is going to include a Thursday Fun Run to the mouth of the San Juan River and to Bullfrog Marina. Friday’s activities include a fun run to Rainbow Bridge and a beach party at Padre Bay followed by a Disco-themed party that night at The Point restaurant at Antelope Point Marina. Once again, Saturday’s laid-back poker run features the festive burgers on the beach at Lone Rock Beach with dinner, an auction and the entertainment rounding out the evening.

Besides the incredible scenery, the Point at Antelope Point Marina is the focal point of the annual Lake Powell Challenge.

Argyros said the run is nearly filled up, which has more to do with accommodating everyone at The Point than being able to fit more boats in slips at the marina.

“The goal, as it has been every year, is to raise money for kids—the great people, great boats, great scenery and great food are all important reasons why the event is successful, but most of us who support the event and come back year after year do it to give back in some way,” Argyros said. “If you’re considering attending the Lake Powell Challenge this year, I’d recommend registering immediately as there is limited space available.”
