Monster Bash Coming to Lake Havasu this Weekend

Jim Nichols’ annual vacation on beautiful Lake Havasu—the Colorado River lake that borders both Arizona and California—is coming to an end today as the Monster Bash Poker Run produced by Nichols’ LakeRacer LLC begins tomorrow in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Besides a broken shift cable on the port drive of his 1996 Warlock 32 Euro, Nichols and his wife Claudia have been enjoying their time on the lake this week—Nichols, who resides in Phoenix, says early fall is his favorite time of the year to visit Lake Havasu. But the relaxation only lasts so long as more than 60 boats and 200-plus participants will converge on the lake on Thursday and Friday for the 2014 Monster Bash Poker Run at the Nautical Beachfront Resort.

Presented by Teague Custom Marine, the seventh annual poker run, which raises money for the Lake Havasu Community Food Bank (last year the event donated $12,000), features a lunch run on Friday, a registration party that evening and Saturday’s five-stop poker run. Also on Saturday is an opportunity for participants to take some holiday photos in front of the famous London Bridge before heading to the evening’s costume-themed cocktail party and awards dinner.

Here’s a few images from last year’s poker run. For even more on Monster Bash, check out the Teague Custom Marine blog.

Nichols, who also organizes the popular Desert Storm Poker Run each April, said he will have some news very soon regarding changes to next year’s Desert Storm Poker Run. Stay tuned to speedonthewater.com for more details.
