Nor-Tech Steps Up With Trade-Focused Fort Myers Offshore Scholarship Effort

As previously reported on speedonthewater.com, the January 2 Fort Myers Offshore Holiday Fun Run is in fine shape thanks to a lunch venue change. Tim Hill, the president of the nonprofit scholarship fundraising club, and his team worked efficiently to secure a lunch spot that could handle what they predict will be a record-setting turnout.

But the news surrounding the event recently got even better, thanks to title-sponsor Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats of Fort Myers, Fla.

“Nor-Tech is donating $5,000 for our trade school and college scholarship fund,” said Hill.

As part of its yearlong 25th anniversary “season of giving” celebration this year, the high-performance center console, V-bottom sportboat and catamaran builder also backed the Fort Myers Offshore Holiday Fun Run in 2021. But the company has a motivation of its own beyond philanthropy.

“Nor-Tech is proud to support Tim and Cyndee Hill and the rest of the Fort Myers Offshore board, which is doing a phenomenal job, not only putting on great events but giving back to the community,” said Henrik Margård, the company’s chief operating officer. “That something that Trond Schou, Nils Johnsen—our founders—and all of us a Nor-Tech believe in.

“Some of this scholarship money will also be dedicated toward students heading to Cape Coral Technical College and Fort Myers Technical College, our local technical colleges,” he continued. “Maybe, that will help us fill the demand for qualified technicians in our rigging facility.”
