Second Mares 45’ Catamaran in Production

The first Mares 45 Catamaran has been delivered and the second is in production.

The second 45-foot luxury performance catamaran from Mares International is in production, according to Lenny Noble, the president of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company. The first Mares 45 cat completed its sea trials and was delivered to its owner last month.

“We see the buyer of the 45 as someone who would like amenities and interior of, say, an Azimut, but wants a hull that is a lot more efficient,” said Noble.

Mares incorporate foils and Pod drives into its asymmetrical hulls, which range from 38 to 100 feet long.

“The Mares hull forces air into the tunnel, giving lift and riding on top of the waves instead of trying to push through them, which basically translates to the boat going faster and burning less fuel,” said Noble. “The core concept of the design is stability and fuel efficiency—everything you will find in a mono hull, yet it offers all the advantages of a cat.”

The layout of the 45 includes two large staterooms, each equipped with its own head and shower. There is also a salon with 360 degrees of visibility and a complete galley. The catamaran can be laid out with a fly bridge or an express-style design.
