Stage Set for SuperCat Fest at Lake of the Ozarks

The organizers behind the 2012 SuperCat Fest presented by Boat Customs have released an action-packed agenda for this year’s all-catamaran-encompassing event at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.

Held at Camden on the Lake Resort and its H. Toad entertainment center, the event, which is the same week as the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout (Aug. 22-26), is replacing the SkaterFest gathering that took place in 2010 and 2011.

“Our event was formed to provide a place for boating enthusiasts to get together, share stories, make friends and promote the great sport of pleasure boating,” said Alvin Heathman, the owner of SuperCatBoats.com, who has teamed up with Lake Ozarks Marine’s Ed Champion to organize the event. “This year, rather than making it a Skater Powerboats-only event, we’re extending an invite to all catamaran owners that want to showcase their super cat.”

The complete SuperCat schedule is available on the event website, but highlights include a fun run to Coconuts Bar & Grill for a pool party on Thursday, followed by a helicopter photo shoot with Jay Nichols/Naples Image at Beavers on the Dam before the Waves and Wheels Stereo Shootout at the H. Toad docks that evening. On Friday, owners are encouraged to participate in the Shootout Poker Run and then enjoy a meet-and-greet party at the H. Toad pool.

For Saturday’s Shootout speed runs, SuperCat Fest participants can take advantage of an anchored houseboat along the course provided by Boat Customs (the boat also will be on the course for Sunday’s top-speed runs). After Saturday’s Shootout festivities at Captain Ron’s, the party begins back at Camden on the Lake for the SuperCat Showdown where $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded in categories such as Best Engine Room, Best Paint, Farthest SuperCat Towed and Best of Show.
