Statement Marine Preparing New Quad-Engine Outboard Catamaran

In conjunction with last month’s acquisition of the Pilini Marine assets to bolster its lineup with outboard-powered sport catamarans, Statement Marine announced a new model that has been in the works for several months—a larger quad-engine catamaran.

Statement Marine plans to have its new outboard-powered catamaran in the water this spring.

According to the St. Petersburg, Fla.-based company’s Craig Barrie, the catamaran was constructed by the team at High Tech Composites and Doug Wright Designs in Melbourne, Fla., and is going to be completed soon and sent to the team at Grant’s Signature Racing in Bradenton, Fla., which will start rigging the new model next month.

“Doug Wright and Doug Wright Jr., have already finished the hull and are a few weeks away from completing the deck and assembling the new boat,” Barrie said. “Then it will go to Grant’s for installation of the Mercury Racing 450R engines. We’ve been working on the boat for some time, well before the Pilini purchase, which we feel gives us a stepping stone for the new boat.”

Barrie said he and company owner Nick Buis have been talking about building the catamaran for about a year now and are excited to get the boat done for its new owner.

“The first one is sold already and I can’t wait to see the owner’s smile when we finish it,” said Barrie, who thanked Chad Shutter of BRP Marine Custom in North Carolina for handling the renderings of the new boat. “We really think this boat is going to be a homerun. We’re working with the best of the best to get this done without having to interrupt our center console production.”
