American Custom Marine Delivers First Quint 450R-Powered 450 Sport

Just in time for the second two months of the boating season, American Custom Marine has delivered a Nor-Tech 450 Sport Center Console to a Northern client who plans to use the boat on Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair. It is the first 450 Sport model to be powered  by five Mercury Racing 450R V-8 engines.

The first Nor-Tech 450 Sport Center Console to be equipped with five Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines was ordered through American Custom Marine.

“Nor-Tech has already built a 452 SuperFish with five 450Rs, as well as 400Rs,” said Michael Knoblock, the owner of the full-service Nor-Tech dealership in Kimball, Mich. “But this is the first 450 Sport with five 450Rs.”

In addition 2,250 worth of supercharged outboard horsepower on its transom, the 45-footer has Perma-Teak flooring on its cockpit sole. Knoblock described the boat as “loaded” with features including a Seakeeper system, auto-pilot, air-conditioning, a generator and more.

Top speed is in the mid-80-mph range.

Stephen Miles and his team at Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., created and applied the boat’s graphic package. Miles has painted several Nor-Tech’s for the American Custom Marine dealer.

With 2,250 hp on its transom this 45-footer from Nor-Tech should top on in the mid-80-mph range.

“Steve and ACM have done quite a few projects now,” said Knoblock.

Henrik Margård, Nor-Tech’s chief operating officer, described the boat as one of the most feature-filled 45-footers the company has ever built.

“It literally has every option available from maxed out power to privacy glass for the cabin,” he said. “The client did a nice job working with Kevin Lane, our in-house art director, to keep the boat elegant with a black and white interior. We were also proud to work again with Stephen Miles, who did a wonderful job on its hullsides.”
