Airing July 8: 'In The Lead' With Nor-Tech's Trond Schou And Nils Johnsen

Featuring Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats founders Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen, the second episode of Speed On The Water’s seven-segment “In The Lead” video series will go live Wednesday, July 8. The 10-plus-minute video will be hosted on the Speedonthewater.com Facebook community page as well as on the website’s YouTube channel.

Episode No. 1 told the story of Australia-born Grant Bruggemann of Grant’s Signature Racing in Bradenton, Fla. The second video tackles the remarkable journey of Schou and Johnsen, a couple of friends from Norway who came to the United States and founded Nor-Tech in Southwest Florida 30 years ago.

Scrapyard Media’s Brad DiMaggio (above) and Ryan Wenk and the speedonthewater.com crew captured all the original footage for the Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen episode of the In The Lead series powered by Mercury Racing at Nor-Tech’s 30th Anniversary celebration weekend in late April.

Powered by Mercury Racing with generous support from MYCO Trailers and Hamilton Marine Finance the “In The Lead” series is being shot, produced and edited by Brad DiMaggio and Ryan Wenk of Michigan-based Scrapyard Media. DiMaggio and Wenk, as well members of the speedonthwater.com team, traveled to Nor-Tech’s 30th Anniversary celebration weekend in April to capture interviews with Schou, Johnsen and others—from clients to vendors—for the episode.

The segment chronicles the rise of the Fort Myers, Fla.-based custom high-performance center console, V-bottom sportboat and center console company during the past 30 years. It’s set in the context of the weekend-long celebration, which included a 60-boat trek—the largest gathering of Nor-Tech models in one place at one time—to Useppa Island.

Several scenes for the video were captured during the Nor-Tech 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner at the Westin Cape Coral Resort, which attracted Nor-Tech owners from around the country.

Next up in the series following the story of Schou and Johnsen will be “In The Lead With Shaun Torrente.” That episode will air on Thursday, August 5.

The Speed On The Water “In The Lead” video series is the latest media production from speedonthewater.com, the only daily news website serving the high-performance powerboat world.
