Day’s Boat Sales Excited For New 450R-Powered Fountains And 2021 Plans

Between eyeing the new Fountain Powerboats models in the final stages of production and planning ahead to hopefully have more boats in stock than any other boat dealer in the country, Day’s Boats Sales’ owner Bill Day is extremely enthusiastic about the coming months.

“I’m really enthused now; it’s been a great year in terms of sales—we had a run this summer where we sold 130-plus boats in 66 days—and we plan to carry that momentum into the winter months by having the largest, most diverse inventory of boats under one roof in the USA,” said Day, who founded the Frankfort, Ky., dealership in 2002. “We moved into a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled 56,000-square-foot facility a few months ago and we’re currently working on replenishing our stockpile of boats. Depending on whether all of our orders arrive on time or not, we should have around 200 boats in stock in February.

“We’re expecting a lot of visitors to the showroom, especially with so many boat shows being cancelled this winter,” he added. “Because of our central location in Midwest, we’re a five-hour drive from most everywhere, right? So people who can’t go to boat shows can drive to us and see various products, packages, colors and brands, all under one roof. Personal touch is a good socially distant way to shop, and you can come here and do just that. We’re not a hard-sell kind of place. We’ve learned that the boats sell the boats. When we have this baby stocked up and the heat is on and it’s dry and the lights are bright and the music is playing and people can come in without having to be drug up into a boat by a sales guy, it’s pretty inviting. People can look and touch and feel and take their time. We definitely let the customers lead the show—9 times out of 10 they already know what they want when they come in here anyway.”

Along with the variety of new and pre-owned inventory ranging from fishing boats, pontoons and other recreational models, Day can’t wait to get his next round of performance center consoles from the team at Fountain Powerboats in Washington, N.C. The first one he said he should have in stock soon is the dealership’s first 39 NX, and he doesn’t expect it to last long considering the 38 SC model he took delivery of in July was sold eight days later.

“In terms of the performance stuff, we have some cool inventory boats coming from Fountain,” he added. “The 39 NX, which is in rigging now, is going to be pretty spectacular. We decided to power it with Mercury Racing 450R engines so it is going to be plenty fast. And the interior—just like the rest of the boat—is gorgeous. Someone is going to get the boat of a lifetime with this one.”

Like the 39 NX, which is a dealer stock boat, Day said he has a couple of 34 SC models in the works that he can’t wait to get his hands on, mainly because they have the same horsepower just in a different configuration so he’s curious how much the performance is going to differ.

“The first 34 have coming has a pair of 450Rs and the second one has three Mercury Racing 300R engines,” Day described. “So far, the Fountain models we’ve had in stock have received a lot of attention around here, particularly at Lake Cumberland. We have a blossoming market here and we’re happy to have such a premium product to sell on the lake.”

Day added that anyone interested in the new Fountains, or any of the other brands Day’s Boat Sales offers, should contact the team at the dealership or visit its website.
