DCB Showcasing M37R Catamaran-Studded Lineup In Ozarks Events

What a difference a year makes. In 2020, the team at DCB Performance Boats of El Cajon, Calif., worked crazy hours to get the first M37 Widebody catamaran to Missouri at the end of August for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Super Cat Fest. Come Friday, the company will showcase four of the seven Mercury Racing 450R outboard engine-powered 37-footers it has delivered to date.

“Out of the 13 boats we’ve built in 2021, more than half of them have been M37Rs,” said Jeff Johnston, the president of DCB. “I’d have to say we’ve gone in the right direction with that model.

“To have that many M37Rs at these events after the thrashing it took to just get one there last year is a pretty good feat for us,” he added. ”We’re also going to have a strong presence at Shootout headquarters, meaning Captain Ron’s. We’ll have two M37s and an M31 at the docks there during the weekend.”

Among the M37R owners hauling them to the event are Ken and Renee Lalonde of Upstate New York, who ran their 37-footer in last weekend’s Lake Champlain Poker Run in Vermont. They are slated to leave tomorrow morning.

“It’s a long haul,” Ken Lalonde said. “But we’re looking forward to being there.”

Rounding out the rest of the DCB catamaran lineup this weekend are two M31s, an M33 and two F-Series models, a 32-footer and 29-footer.

Johnston said he expects to see two or three—and maybe more—make passes on the three-quarter-mile top-speed course. To that end, DCB owners’ group member Tony Chiaramonte, who handles most deliveries to familiarize owners with their new cats, will be there with helmet in hand and ready to go throughout the weekend.

“DCB guys usually say, ‘Go run my stuff’ and Tony takes care of it,” Johnston said, then chuckled.
