Helmkamp’s Highlights From The Lake Race Street Party

If there’s one thing everyone has learned about Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks throughout the past decade, it’s that the folks there know how to put on a boating-related street party. Case in point—last night’s Lake Race Street Party on Bagnell Dam Boulevard, the same location that hosts the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout on the Strip gathering that spans more than a mile during the late-August event.

With more than a few dozen boats on hand for the Offshore Powerboat Association-sanctioned event that is being hosted at Neon Taco and includes boats from the NGK Spark Plugs F1 Powerboat Championship Series, thousands of spectators turned out for the Friday evening affair that featured race teams from across the country promoting their sponsors, signing autographs, selling apparel and more.

Check out the slideshow above for more of Helmkamp’s images from Friday.

And thanks to speedonthewater.com contributing photographer Jeff Helmkamp, much of that fun on the strip was captured and is on display in the slideshow above for those who couldn’t make it to the Lake Race this year.

Editor’s note: Look for complete coverage of the seventh annual Lake Race on Sunday.
