Lake Havasu Boat Show Secures New Venue

Thanks to a venue change, the 30th annual Lake Havasu Boat Show will go on as scheduled April 9-11 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. The organizers, who learned in mid-February that their permit application for the show’s traditional Lake Havasu-Windsor State Park venue had been denied in light of COVID-19 safety concerns, announced they have secured the Havasu 95 Speedway at Sara Park Sports Complex as the 2021 show site.

“Although Havasu State Park at Windsor 4 remains closed to special events for an indefinite period of time, we feel fortunate that Havasu 95 Speedway has generously been made available to accommodate this important annual event,” the organizers stated in a press release this afternoon. “Because of the boat show size, we will be utilizing the entire Speedway facility—track and pit area. Since this is new to everyone, a new floorplan is being created and will be posted on the Boat Show website shortly.”

The permit denial raised concerns not just for the Lake Havasu Boat Show producers, but for those of the inaugural Super Cat Fest West event and Desert Storm Poker Run that will follow it next month. Today’s news is positive for the organizers of those happenings, including Speedboat magazine publisher Ray Lee and his team, who are collaborating with Super Cat Fest organizer Alvin Heathman on the Super Cat Fest West event.

“The fact that the city has allowed the Havasu Boat Show is encouraging for the events that follow it,” said Lee. “Lake Havasu has been systematically scaling back on their regulations, even eliminating masks in restaurants and stores so this is great news for Super Cat Fest West and Desert Storm.”
