Mark Schnepf Joining The Firm/MSP Recovery Offshore Racing Team

A familiar name for offshore powerboat fans, especially those who followed the sport in the early 2000s, Mark Schnepf of New York-based Activator/Rage Powerboats fame will join The Firm Racing/MSP Recovery team in the early 2021 season. Owned by Pete Riveiro, the team ran a 30-foot Activator V-bottom in the American Power Boat Association Stock V class last year in what was its rookie Stock V season.

In 2001 and 2002, Schnepf captured APBA Offshore Factory 1-Class World Championships in an Activator raceboat of his own creation.

“Mark will be throttling for at least the first few races of the 2022,” said Riveiro. “There’s no one better to learn the boat from than Mark. He’s the man.”

Said Schnepf, “My goal is to provide the factory support needed to dial in the boat and help make The Firm Racing Team/MSP Recovery more competitive.”

During the team’s rookie season, Richard Garcia ran with Riveiro. At the 2021 American Power Boat Association/Union Internationale Motonautique Offshore World Championships, Garcia teamed up with this brother Julian in the cockpit.

Riveiro emphasized that both are still essential members of the team.

“The brothers are family and will always be a part of my team,” said Riveiro. “It was their choice to step back and I understand. This sport takes a huge commitment and their business is booming. I greatly appreciate their help in our first season.”
