Meanwhile In Marathon, MTI Group Goes Casual

Currently enjoying lunch at the Post Card Inn in Key Largo, Fla., some 20 MTI catamaran and V-bottom owners and their guests have a laidback weekend ahead of them including today’s lunch run to the popular Islamorada destination. The 120-plus-person group departed yesterday from Haulover Marine Center in North Miami and stopped for lunch at the Islamorada Fish Company before reaching the Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club in Marathon, their home-based for the weekend.

The MTI owners group has taken over the Post Card Inn on Islamorada in Key Largo for lunch today.

According to Yvonne Aleman, who is participating with Greg Harris, her longtime boyfriend, in their MTI 340X catamaran, conditions improved throughout yesterday’s run to the Keys. This is the first MTI-specific event for the South Florida couple, who purchased their 34-footer earlier this year

“As we were getting ready to depart Haulover, we had to contend with a band of weather but it did not stop the entire fleet from loading up and heading out,” she said. “Once we got around the rain, it was perfect—excellent water conditions, no more rain, easy chop, just perfect. The lunch stop was excellent with dockage, food and service. They were prepared for us and it was impressive to see just how many of us were in our group.”

“It was a great boating day all around,” she added. “And we all took over Castaways last night.”

According to MTI company founder and owner Randy Scism, today’s group-fun is just getting started and will include a dinner tonight.

“We have a barbecue tomorrow and some members of our group are running to Key West,” he said. “It’s going great so far.”

Home-based for this weekend’s MTI owners event is the Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club in Marathon.
