Miss GEICO Confirms Cockpit Roster For 2021

As previously reported on speedonthewater.com, the Miss GEICO cockpit crew of throttleman Steve Curtis and co-drivers Travis Pastrana and Brit Lilly are eager to attack the 2021 offshore racing season. The Riviera Beach, Fla, team made that official in a press release this morning.

With throttleman Steve Curtis and co-drivers Brit Lilly and Travis Pastrana committed for the 2021 season, the Miss GEICO team is poised for Class One success. Photos by Coleman McGowan copyright Miss GEICO offshore racing.

A multi-time world champion, Curtis will tackle his third season on the sticks of the team’s 47-foot Victory catamaran powered by Mercury Racing 1100 Comp engines, which competes in the Class One ranks. Another veteran offshore racer with world and national titles to his credit, Lilly brings years of experience and composure to the team.

Though Pastrana has decades of high-flying motorsports competition and is the world’s best-known extreme motorsports athlete, his rookie offshore racing season was abbreviated—as was the entire 2020 season—by the COVID-19 pandemic. But according to Curtis and Miss GEICO team manager Gary Stray, a pair of British ex-pats with extensive Union Internationale Motonautique Class One experience, he showed plenty of aptitude and innate skill behind the wheel.

“These three sportsmen are the best in the world, distinguished by their championships and boundless potential,” said Scott Colton, the Miss GEICO group’s managing member, in the release. ”The 2021 season is going to be fantastic for Miss GEICO and we look forward to working together to win another offshore world championship and defend our title against the best teams in the world.”

More than Miss GEICO co-drivers, Lilly and Pastrana are longtime friends from Maryland.
