Nor-Tech 460 Flyer Open Bow Bound For Boyne Thunder

As beautiful as it appears in photographs—and you can find proof-positive of that in your copy of the 2021 Speed On The Water Year In Review print magazine—you can’t fully appreciate the Nor-Tech 460 Flyer Open Bow sportboat until you’ve seen it in person. And unless you’ve been boating in Florida in the past eight months or so, you haven’t seen it in person because the 46-footer powered by quad Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines has never left the Sunshine State.

That will change this weekend, thanks to American Custom Marine of Kimball, Mich.

The mid-cabin beauty will take center stage during the 19th annual Boyne Thunder Poker Run, July 8-9, in Northern Michigan. The first 460 Flyer built with an open-bow/mid-cabin configuration, the 2022 model-year boat is for sale and available for immediate delivery, and will be housed at American Custom Marine, Nor-Tech’s Great Lakes dealer, which is owned by Michael Knoblock.

“Tyler Blankenship (the dealership’s marketing manager) and I are eager to showcase, and sell of course, the 460 Flyer, a one-of-a-kind boat, in the Boyne Thunder Poker Run,” said Knoblock. “

Geoff Tomlinson, Nor-Tech’s dealer manager, and his family will be joining Knoblock on the 460 Flyer this weekend.

As previously reported on speedonthewater.com, American Custom Marine is a longtime backer of the Boyne event while Nor-Tech, which is based in Fort Myers, Fla., is a first-time sponsor this year.

“Nor-Tech is excited to sponsor this event along with American Custom Marine,” he said. “Mike Knoblock has gone to great lengths to ensure everyone has a fantastic time—including shipping our 460 Flyer up to Boyne.

“This will be the first time this event has seen anything like this on the water,” he continued. “Personally I’m looking forward to having my wife and daughter with me to explore such a unique venue.”

Shown here during the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the 460 Flyer will light up the docks at Boyne City Marina.
