Performance Boat Club of Canada Muskoka Run Raises $20,000 For Children’s Cancer Charity
As it did for the Sarnia Shakedown Poker Run—first of event of the 2019 Performance Boat Club of Canada season—foul weather greeted participants during last weekend’s Muskoka Lakes Poker Run in Ontario, Canada. But that didn’t stop 26 high-performance powerboat captains and their hardy passengers from at least trying to complete the run.

“Despite inclement weather, we left the docks in Gravenhurst on Lake Muskoka on our way to lunch on nearby Lake Joseph,” said Meghan Brousseau, the president of the nonprofit club, which raises money for a local at each venue. “But many boats had to turn back as the rain and wind were too fierce.”
Still, through its post-run auction the organization raised $20,000 for Camp Oochigeas, which is a summer camp in Muskoka children with cancer.

“When it came time for the charity auction, everyone was in a joyous and generous mood, and everyone had a good time despite the weather,” said Brousseau. “The best poker hand went to Dave Grant, followed by Mark Krytiuk in second place and Kevin Primmer with the third best hand. The hard luck award went to Derek Steininger.”
