Shaun Torrente Racing Backing Super Stock And Bracket 700 Classes With Prize Money

A well-known and respected high-performance powerboat parts designer and fabricator. Southwest Florida-based Shaun Torrente Racing is stepping up with prize money to support the Super Stock and Bracket 700 classes in the upcoming St. Clair, Mich., Michigan City, Ind., St. Petersburg, Fla., Clearwater, Fla., and Fort Myers Beach, Fla., races of the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series. News of the cross-promotional sponsorship was announced in a press release this morning from the United Kingdom-based P1 Offshore organization.

“We are a company born from racing and proven by racing, and we feel that our sponsorship of Super Stock racing—where almost every team uses our engine brackets—is a great platform to highlight the rigidity and reliability of our products, which are manufactured to withstand the forces and abuse that the ocean and high speeds throw at them,” said Torrente, who throttles the CMR team Super Stock-class raceboat with driver Eric Belisle and is a multi-time powerboat racing champion, in the release. “Likewise, Class 7 is a highly competitive class of grassroots teams full of young talent that we want to invest in and reward.”

To be eligible for prize money in either class, boats must display an STR sticker. Here’s how it breaks down:

• The winner of each Super Stock-class round will receive an additional $750 if the team is using STR outboard brackets. Also, through a random draw among the fourth- to tenth-place finishers, one Super Stock team will receive $250 following each race.

• The winner of each Bracket 700-class round will receive $350 from STR—as long as the team is using an STR part or tool on its raceboat.

“The waters we race in are some of the harshest environments for any product to survive and this allows us to demonstrate the quality of STR’s manufacturing processes for application to the consumer high-performance pleasure boat market,“ said Torrente. “In awarding the fourth- through tenth-place place prize money in the Super Stock class, we want to create an accolade regardless of finishing position to acknowledge the effort and contribution of teams as they experience the inevitable attribution in racing conditions. We want a team to end the race day with something even if they did not finish or chose the wrong set-up.”

Most teams in the ferociously competitive Super Stock class run STR outboard brackets.

Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1/P1 Offshore, described STR’s prize money commitment as a “novel sponsorship that demonstrates Shaun’s passion for the sport.”

“The success of his STR business is founded on the products being innovative and proven in the racing world, and this sponsorship further demonstrates his commitment to making the sport more professional, which is something he often talks to me about.,” he added.
