Sneak Peek: DCB M33R Open Bow Ready To Rig

While much of the news coming out of DCB Performance Boats of late naturally has focused on the new M37R Widebody catamaran, the Southern California-based company still has other beautiful builds in the mix. Case in point, this M33R model, which will be powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines.

Though the latest M33R is just the second to be ordered with an open-bow layout, it is the eleventh 33-footer built since DCB added the model to its line three years ago.

The latest M33R boasts an open-bow layout with a cockpit walk-through. Fresh out of “gelcoat, cut and buff” late last week, it is the second 33-footer to be built with the family friendly layout.

“We delivered the first M33R with an open-bow and walk-through to Tony Monroe in May,” said Jeff Johnston, the president of DCB.

The open-bow 33-footer is hull No. 11 for the model was introduced in 2018. The M33R has become one of the company’s strongest sellers, according to Johnston.

“The first five were Mercury Racing 400R outboard-powered boats,” said Johnson. “The last five, including the one in production, are 450R boats. And two of the five owners who bought their M33R cats 400R outboards have had us repower them with 450Rs.”
