Hull And Deck Together For Outerlimits SC 37 Catamaran

The team at Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats in Bristol, R.I., moved one step closer to producing its first 37-foot outboard engine-powered this week. The company is in the process of bonding together the boat’s post-cured, carbon-fiber-and-epoxy hull and deck, which gave Dan Kleitz, Jason Amaral and the rest of the Outerlimits crew their first look at a “real” 37-footer.

The first Outerlimits SC 37 catamaran is taking shape and the company reportedly has several more orders in line.

“We are very pleased with the look and the design—that’s one of the things that sets us apart from other builders,” Kleitz said. “That’s all due to the designs and ideas (company founder) Mike Fiore left us.”

Dubbed the SC 37, the catamaran has a 36-foot running surface and a 38-foot length overall. In standard form, it will be offered in white gelcoat, though painted graphics will be an option.

Standard power will be twin Mercury Racing 450R outboards.

“We already have a handful of orders and they’ve all been for the boat with 450s,” said Kleitz. “I supposed if someone wanted us to we would build one with Mercury Racing 400s. The 300s would be too small. It’s a pretty big boat with a deep cockpit and lots of freeboard. It was designed to be great in rough water.

Standard features will include a 22-inch Garmin GPS unit and a Garmin digital switching system, two nine-inch Mercury VesselView monitors, Livorsi Marine throttles and shifters, a JL Audio stereo system, SeaDek flooring, engine brackets and CNC propellers. The factory-direct base price for the cat is $465,000 and includes an aluminum MYCO trailer.

From all angles, the Outerlimits SC 37 has an intriguing look.

“The standard boat will be incredibly well-equipped,” Kleitz said. “Outerlimits started with the 37 Stiletto. It’s going to be fantastic to have another 37-footer, our newest model, on the water.”
